(* 29. April 1863; ? 29. April 1933) gilt als einer der bedeutendsten griechischen Lyriker der Neuzeit. Der lebte in Alexandria. Seine Gedichte thematisieren ? häufig im Subtext - schwule Liebe und schwules Begeheren. Kavafis beeinflusste zahlreiche Literaten seiner Zeit, darunter E. M. Forster.
