Schon immer sind Kinder in Familien aufgewachsen, die wir heute als Regenbogenfamilien bezeichnen würden; immer schon hatten auch Schwule und Lesben den Wunsch, Kinder zu haben. In jüngerer Zeit wird dieser Wunsch zunehmend respektiert und es wurden in zahlreichen Ländern rechtliche Rahmenbedingungen geschaffen, die eine gesellschaftliche Absicherung von Eltern und Kindern ermöglichen. Gleichwohl bleibt es immer noch ein unkonventionelles Abenteuer, sich den lesbischen oder schwulen Wunsch nach eigenen Kindern zu erfüllen.
