Israel ist fraglos der liberalste Staat in Bezug auf Lesben und Schwule des Mittleren Ostens; nicht nur ist Homosexualität entkriminalisiert, es gibt ein Antidiskriminierungsgesetzt und gerade in Tel Aviv eine der lebendigsten lesbisch-schwulen Szenen weltweit. Von diesem kulturellen Leben ist zwar relativ viel bei uns bekannt, was das Medium Film angeht; unsere literarische Wahrnehmung ist dagegen noch recht eng.
