(* 3. Oktober 1925; † 31. Juli 2012) war ein schwuler US-amerikanischer Schriftsteller, Drehbuchautor, Schauspieler und Politiker.
Gore Vidal selbst bezeichnete sich gerne als das »schwarze Schaf« seiner Familie, womit nicht nur seine radikale Kritik an den politischen Verhältnissen in den USA gemeint war, sondern auch seine unverblümt gelebte und in Büchern geschilderte Homosexualität.
