On the other hand, there are gay politicians using nationalist propaganda to support their own careers: A young gay man, Daniel Ivanovic, feeling that "Individuals like me made the Serbs into victims," has left Yugoslavia, disillusioned, and migrated to Canada, where he encounters a Quebec nationalist with whom he shares a passionate and intimate relationship that both excites and repels him. Their stories are interwoven with that of Claudia, Daniel's ex-lover, a newswoman for Radio-Canada. Daniel seeks calmnes and purification in his sexual experiences and phantasies.
