Susan Sontag, geboren als Susan Rosenblatt ? Sontag ist der Familienname ihres Stiefvaters
(* 16. Januar 1933; ? 28. Dezember 2004) war eine amerikanische Schriftstellerin, Essayistin, Publizistin und Regisseurin. Sie war bekannt für ihren Einsatz für Menschenrechte sowie als Kritikerin der gesellschaftlichen Verhältnisse und der Regierung der Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika.
Von 1988 bis zu ihrem Tod lebte sie in einer Beziehung mit der Fotografin Annie Leibovitz. Immer wieder nahm Sontag auch Stellung zu lesbischen und schwulen Themen ? schon in den 60er Jahren war sie eine Ikone der schwulen Intellektuellenszene durch ihre legendären »Notes on Camp«.
