Patricia Highsmith (eigentlich Mary Patricia Plangman)
(* 19. Januar 1921; ? 4. Februar 1995) war eine lesbische US-amerikanische Schriftstellerin, die den größten Teil ihres Lebens in Europa verbrachte.
Patricia Highsmith schrieb vor allem psychologische Kriminal- sowie zeitgenössische Romane. Besonders bekannt sind die Romane um den schwulen Hochstapler Tom Ripley. 1953 veröffentlichte sie unter dem Pseudonym Claire Morgan den Roman »The Price of Salt«, die Geschichte einer lesbischen Liebe mit glücklichem Ende ? einer der ersten großen Romane mit einem lesbischen Happy-end.
