Hassverbrechen oder Hasskriminalität (englisch: hate crimes)
sind Straftaten, bei denen das Opfer vom Täter vorsätzlich nach dem Kriterium einer Gruppenzugehörigkeit ausgewählt wird; Schwule, Lesben und TransGender-Personen werden immer wieder Opfer solcher Verbrechen. Die Perfidie von Hassverbrechen liegt nicht zuletzt darin, dass sie Legitimität für ihr Motiv erheischen und so Billigung oder sogar Unterstützung zumindest in Teilen der Gesellschaft suchen ? und immer wieder auch finden.
