In seinem neuen Roman erzählt der Autor von »Die Farben der Welt« die Geschichte von Michael Frame, der im tiefsten Südfrankreich in einer Passantin seine Geliebte und Genossin aus seinen Zeiten in der radikalen linken Szene der 60er, bzw. 70er Jahre wiederzuerkennen glaubt. Dabei war für Frame das Kapitel längst abgeschrieben - Anna war vermeintlich bei einem lange zurückliegenden Terroranschlag ums Leben gekommen. Nun gerät Frames bürgerliche Existenz ins Wanken, denn niemand aus seiner Familie - nicht einmal seine Ehefrau - weiß etwas von seiner militanten Zeit. Nach seiner Heimkehr nach London tauchen auch noch Dokumentarfilme aus der damaligen Hausbesetzerszene und von Demos gegen den Vietnamkrieg auf, auf denen Frame zu sehen ist. Das macht ihn erpressbar.
